Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles

The Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles is an Eastern-Catholic Maronite Diocese that is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and serves Maronite Catholics from California to Ohio. The bishop of the Eparchy is Most Revered A. Elias Zaidan. ​ The Eparchy was formed officially in March 1, 1994, transitioning from the original Eparchy of St. Maron in Brooklyn, New York, which originally served the Maronites of the entire United States. ​ The Maronite Church has ancient roots going back to the Apostles through the Patriarchate of Antioch where “we were first called Christians.” (Acts 11:26) Today our patriarch resides in Lebanon. The Maronite Church has always been in communion with the Pope of Rome.

Bishop A. Elias Zaidan

A Shepherd of Faith, Unity, and Missionary Leadership

Bishop A. Elias Zaidan, born in Lebanon in 1963, is the third and youngest Bishop of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles, appointed by Pope Francis in 2013. A dedicated leader and mission-builder, he has strengthened unity, expanded pastoral outreach, and championed child protection and lay involvement throughout the Eparchy. His guiding motto, “Thy will be done,” reflects his commitment to serving faithfully and shaping a strong future for the Maronite Church in the United States.
